Great night at VJC. VJ Band concert. In typical fashion, we arrived late and missed the first 2 pieces. Not that we really regretted it, okay, maybe a little. The late arrival cost us comfy seats and we had to settle for the stairs instead. The songs before the interlude were quite boring, or maybe simply cause I wasn't able to appreciate them. Interlude with Wei Jie dropping by to say Hi and the boys who did their Pink ICs proud by rushing for the empty seats vacated by those who left for a quick bite.
The 2nd part of the concert was alot more interesting, well, maybe due to the fact that the band started playing more modern pieces. First was the Alumni piece of 'What A Wonderful World' that even had a singer to accompany the band. The awef***ingsome display of skill in 'Flight Of The Bumblebee'. Followed by the Shrek piece and finally the cover of Buble's 'Sway', that saw the sax take over the vocals. Fantastic job there by the sax. The final piece was this very long piece (about 35 minutes long) that consisted of 4 different parts. I loved the 3rd part though. And emotional farewell for the j2s and finally, the one song that justified the 10 dollar price tag, the Victorian Anthem. Ah well, come to think of it, it's worth it to just to go VJ just to sing that one song.
Oh, it was Wei Jie's birthday. Hero tried to act by emptying his pockets infront of us thinking we won't dunk him. But in true Victorian fashion, we did. He tried screaming for help in all the languages that he knew along the way, and even his female band counterparts just watched in glee as he celebrated his birthday with a bang, I mean, splash. Credit to him for being a good sport. And to those who are calling me evil, I actually gave the birthday boy 2 hugs even though he was wet!
