holla

Well, this post actually backdates to Sunday. Well, dad threw a party for a dear friend who is leaving for Melbourne soon. It's not just a normal friend, but he's a member of dad's soccer gang whom he has known since he was 18. That would actually mean that they have known each other for about 30 years? Impressive huh? I've always been amazed at how they keep in contact with each other. Be it simple gatherings or the yearly Christmas or Chinese New Year celebrations.

The usual banter, followed by a potluck dinner. The big surprise was a DVD compilation which one of them made using all their photos which dates back to the 70s. Pictures of them playing football, outings to bars, overseas trips. The real fun was seeing all the ex-girlfriends in the photos. All the wives were sitting together on the couch and were throwing suspicious glances at their respective husbands. Jibes, laughter, blushes.

Phototaking and the exchanging of momentos and gifts. Somehow you could just see the sorrow on the faces of these men. Even if they didn't shed a tear or crack while speaking, you could just sense some misery in the air. Goodbyes are never easy. And well, they've known each other longer than dad knows mum!

If there were some things that I would like to take from my dad, I guess this would be one of them. Unlike him, I don't really have a soccer clique. So yes, VS boys... got chance? We started earlier anyway... 15... and for some of you guys, 13.
